We are extremely proud that Trainee Solicitor Imogen Fleur has been voted in as President of the Kent Junior Lawyers Division (JLD). She has been a member of Kent JLD since joining CooperBurnett LLP at the beginning of last year and was, until recently, the organisation’s IT & social media coordinator.
“I’m honoured to take on the role as President of the Kent JLD and look forward to continuing to build a professional support and networking group for junior lawyers,” says Imogen. “Networking can be really daunting, particularly to those who are new to this field, but it can bring so many benefits to your career and wellbeing. We’re a welcoming, diverse group of people who are always willing to offer support and guidance. We have some exciting events in the pipeline for the coming year... watch this space!"
The Kent JLD – which comes under The Law Society of England and Wales - holds events designed to assist the professional development of junior members of the legal profession in a sociable and enjoyable way. They also provide an opportunity for junior lawyers to build their professional network.
Membership is open to anyone who is studying or working in law including students and apprentices; LPC students and graduates; trainee solicitors; solicitors up to five years qualified; and any other junior legal professionals (such as paralegals and legal executives).
Imogen completed her Legal Practice Course (LPC)/Master of Laws (LLM) at BPP Cambridge in September 2021, having graduated from the University in Essex with a first-class degree in law. She set her heart on being a lawyer when she was 16.
“I saw first-hand what a difference a good lawyer can make to a difficult situation,” she explains. “Since then, I have dedicated my education and life to reach my goal in becoming a solicitor.”
Imogen spent a year working within our Corporate and Commercial team and has recently moved into Commercial Property.
“Imogen is the first member of TeamCB to become President of the Kent JLD and we are incredibly proud, particularly as it comes at the same time that I am President of Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & District Law Society,” says Property Litigation Partner John Spence. “Since she joined CooperBurnett, Imogen has impressed everyone with her can-do attitude and eagerness to learn. We know she’ll be a fantastic President.”
