Last year, the Walk Tonbridge Festival raised an incredible £27,242.09 for charity, with £10,057.59 heading to Sustain, the community food and fuel bank in Tonbridge, and the remainder going to causes including Prostate Cancer UK, Make Birth Better, FEAST Tonbridge and Tonbridge Athletics Club.
The highlight of the Festival each year is the Walk Tonbridge Marathon and, on Sunday 22 September, 220 walkers set out in heavy rain to walk just over 26 miles around Tonbridge and its surrounding villages. This event is co-organised by James and Senior Associate, Katie Hilsdon, from CooperBurnett, who did an incredible job!
The Marathon also couldn't have gone ahead without all the volunteers who turned out from 5.00am to 7.00pm to make bacon rolls, register walkers, count everyone in at checkpoints, encourage them and welcome them back to Tonbridge Old Fire Station (TOFS).
Among the walkers were two teams from TeamCB, including Partner Sarah Strong, who has completed all four Walk Tonbridge Marathons! Well done to them all!
There is still another week of walks to enjoy, as well as a photographic exhibition at Tonbridge School next weekend, entitled 'Tonbridge Memories'. Visit here to find out more: www.walktonbridge.co.uk
