This year the event is taking place on Saturday 20 April from 7.00pm in its traditional venue of Tonbridge Parish Church (St Peter & St Paul) in the centre of the town.
The concert will feature The Tunbridge Wells Orpheus Male Voice Choir and the Tonbridge Community Singers and promises a variety of music, from classical tunes to songs from the shows. As ever, the finale will be a traditional ‘last night of the proms’ ending, with the vocal talents of Rebecca Hooper, accompanied by much enthusiastic flag waving.
Katie Hancock, an Associate Solicitor in our Private Client team – and a Dementia Friends Ambassador – will be volunteering on the night.
“This concert is always a wonderful evening – with fantastic music and amazing singers,” she says. “The money raised will go straight to supporting local people with dementia. There is currently no cure for dementia and more and more people will be living with it as the years go on. As a community, there isn’t as much understanding as there could be and, through Dementia Friends, we are changing that.”
CooperBurnett was the first business in Tunbridge Wells to officially be named as ‘dementia friendly’. Dementia Friends is a national initiative from Alzheimer’s Society that aims to change the way we think, act and talk about dementia.
Tickets for the concert are £10 and available on the door; all ticket sales and proceeds will go directly to Tonbridge & Malling and Tunbridge Wells DFC. The night will also include a raffle, along with refreshments.
