He was mostly recently with a firm in South London, working within its commercial litigation department for five years, and has worked in central London too, where he trained. Lee has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives since May 2014.
“I live locally, so knew of CooperBurnett and its excellent reputation,” Lee says.
He specialises in all types of property litigation, including residential and commercial landlord and tenant work, dilapidations and service charge disputes.
His work with the Private Client team will mainly involve contentious probate and trust claims, which includes Inheritance Act claims, removal of trustees and personal representatives, and revocation of Wills.
“So often we talk to clients who are surprised how well they got on with their family members until a loved one passes away and money is involved,” says Lee.
Lee didn’t study law straight after school, but came to it a little later, although it was always something which he had ‘in his mind’. He was drawn to contentious law and disputes straightaway.
“My wife would describe me as really laid back in normal life and not at all argumentative,” he says. “Maybe being able to argue a case is the outlet I need, which allows me to be like that.”
Lee joined CooperBurnett as the disruption caused by Covid-19 started to affect the UK.
“Taking into account what an intense time it is, everyone has been really welcoming and friendly,” he says.

Lee is a keen footballer but has recently stepped back from playing competitively and has filled the space with running, particularly trail running. When he initially joined the firm, he did run to work and back a few times.
“I had signed up for a few running events over the next few months, but will keep training when I can,” he explains.
