At the beginning of December, we were delighted to once again support the Nourish Community Foodbank ’12 Days of Christmas’ campaign. We invited members of our team – and anyone visiting our office in Tunbridge Wells – to donate an essential food bag item each day into a box, which we then delivered to Nourish.

Nourish is a registered charity that provides short-term emergency provisions, support and signposting in a crisis to individuals and families within the borough of Tunbridge Wells, South Tonbridge and the surrounding areas. Its mission is that ‘no-one need go hungry in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas’.

We were happy to hear recently that the charity was ‘blown away’ by the support it received from local businesses and individuals over the recent festive period. In total, over 68 metric tonnes of food was donated – more than six times the amount donated last Christmas.

“We’re stunned with the amount of kindness and care people have shown to those in need,” says Dawn Stanford, Operations Manager at Nourish. “To have this level of response has been amazing and we can’t thank people enough.”

The donations ensured that special food bags could be delivered to 229 households during the Christmas week, a 36% increase on the previous year.

“This couldn’t be done without the support of everyone that donated and our amazing staff and team of volunteers who made up and delivered Christmas in a bag to our clients,” says Dawn. “There were a lot of tears on doorsteps this year, as people were so taken aback by the big hearts of strangers, someone they will never meet who made sure they had a Christmas not a crisis.”
