CooperBurnett makes marathon effort for hospice charity ellenor
Six team members from CooperBurnett are taking in a marathon 26 mile walk in July to raise money for the children’s hospice at home charity ellenor.
Taking on the challenge will be ellenor Ambassador, Victoria Sampson, Lisa Connolly, Katie Hilsdon, Charlotte Mackenzie, Gareth Warner and Andrew Hawkins and they are joining a team of ellenor supporters in the charity’s Walkathon on Sunday 2 July, which involves walking from Tower Bridge back the ellenor’s adult hospice in Gravesend.
“I should probably commit to doing a bit more training,” says Victoria Sampson. “But, I am hopeful that, by applying ‘mind over matter’, I will complete the walk. I am so inspired by the vital work which ellenor does – so I am hoping that will encourage me along the way.”
ellenor provides vital hospice care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in the comfort of their own home. When ellenor was CooperBurnett’s charity of choice, the team raised in excess of £15,000.
“We are delighted that six team members from CooperBurnett – including ellenor Ambassador Victoria Sampson – are supporting our Walkathon this July,” says Hayley Brown, events manager from ellenor. “This is a hugely popular fundraiser for our charity and we are expecting 100 people to take part this year. The funds raised will make a huge difference to families facing terminal illness across Kent; in the Tunbridge Wells area all our children’s hospice care is provided in the sanctuary of the family home.”
