The business was founded more that 50 years ago by John Baxter and Arthur Clacey and prides itself on supplying ‘the finest products available at the most competitive price possible’.
Here we ask Britelite Windows Ltd’s Managing Director, Simon Bourn, more about the support CooperBurnett LLP provides the company:
What support does CooperBurnett LLP give you and your business?
”As a business, we will occasionally come across customers who simply refuse to make agreed stage payments or make claims on their warranties at the last minute – one client left it until there was three weeks left of their ten-year warranty to make a claim. In cases like this, it helps to have a ‘good lawyer on your side’.
Who do you deal with on the CooperBurnett team?
“Over the years, we have called upon David Brown for advice – while he was at his previous firm and now that he’s joined CooperBurnett. He is always helpful and professional and he knows how the legal system works. We might only end up in court very occasionally, so we simply don’t have that in-depth knowledge.”
“It really makes a difference that David specialises in construction. I’ve dealt with good lawyers before, but they haven’t had that knowledge. The construction industry comes with its own particular foibles and David understands this and how the sector works.”
Has CooperBurnett helped you to overcome any particular challenges?
“If it looks like we are heading to court, David will help us to get our case together and he’ll explain to us what we need. Sometimes that involves not just adding information but taking away things which simply aren’t relevant.”
“It does feel sometimes that judges will come down against the ‘big bad double glazing companies’, so it honestly makes such a difference to get a lawyer involved, even if we don’t end up attending court.”
“There have been occasions when we’ve been concerned about a case and David has looked at the paperwork for us and simply said that the other side has no case to answer at all. For example, it’s past its statute of limitations. But, we wouldn’t know that ourselves. I’d honestly tell people to get a solicitor as early as possible.”
“I absolutely hate the thought of going to court – but, if it comes to it, having David to support us means we have the confidence that all our ducks are in a row in terms of having all the correct paperwork etc. Honestly, I’ve discovered over the years that cases can collapse for the silliest reasons – such as a form not being presented at the right time.”
What would you say to another business looking to work with CooperBurnett?
“I’d have no reservations at all in recommending CooperBurnett. I’m always kept really well-informed and in the loop about what’s going on all the way along.”
