CooperBurnett is proud to be one of the sponsors of Calverley Adventure Grounds in Tunbridge Wells – a new nature-inspired playground for children, which opened to the public on Monday 18 September.
It has been built on the site of the old Bowling Green in Calverley Grounds, which has been disused since 2005. The site needed redevelopment and has provided a much-needed dedicated area for children in this historical park in the centre of Tunbridge Wells.
The design for the area was created by local resident and award-winning landscape architect, Jennette Emery-Wallis. Concerned about children’s health, she has led the way in designing active, playful space for children of all abilities. Her award-winning work includes the Diana Princess of Wales memorial playground in Kensington Gardens and Tumbling Bay at the Olympic Park in Stratford.
This was a community project and a team of volunteers came together to raise over £225,000 through fundraisers, events and sponsorship.
Public artist, Gordon Young, designed the Calverley Community Wall to recognise all those who have sponsored the project.
Victoria Sampson, Head of Corporate at CooperBurnett, who went along to the official launch of Calverley Adventure Grounds with her daughter, says: “This is a fantastic community playground for children and has turned a derelict part of this wonderful park into something magical for children to enjoy. We were delighted to be part of the project and we’re proud that CooperBurnett is on the Calverley Community Wall.”
