Imogen and Partner Oliver Bussell supported DAVSS (Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services) with the lease for the property in Five Oak Green, working closely with CEO, Sam Haspell, and the charity’s Head of Business Development, Louise Wright.
DAVSS is an award-winning charity which supports any victims of domestic abuse aged 16 years and above in West Kent. It was launched in 2011 by three women who had not been able to access domestic abuse support when they needed it. Over the years, it has supported 21,000 people – women and an increasing number of men.
For the past ten years, DAVSS has been based out of the police station in Tunbridge Wells but it has outgrown the space and it was no longer suitable. In the new building – a beautiful old oast house - the team can work comfortably, while there is a room which can be used for online court hearings.
CooperBurnett has had a long relationship with DAVSS, as Gemma Gillespie and Melissa Gire from our Family & Matrimonial team, have provided its clients with pro bono support for many years. In the last financial year alone, 88 advice meetings have taken place.
Sam Haspell welcomed everyone and thanked CooperBurnett for their support. She then talked about the vital service DAVSS provides locally, as well as plans the charity has for the future.
