ellenor’s Children’s Hospice Care is provided in the comfort of the family home and spans across North and West Kent and the London Borough of Bexley.
Victoria has been an Ambassador for ellenor for eight years.
“The work that ellenor does is inspirational,” she explains. “The charity provides invaluable care and support to babies, children and teenagers, their parents, siblings and family members through what are extremely difficult and unimaginable times. ellenor is relentless in its commitment to provide 24-hour palliative and end-of-life care to children who desperately need it.”
Over the next three months, ellenor estimates that, without emergency financial and local support, the charity’s income will decline by £1.1 million.
“Here at ellenor, our dedicated healthcare professionals, support staff and volunteers all share one singular goal; to give every child or adult patient and their families the expert care and support we would want for our own loved ones. And, when the time comes, an end-of-life journey that is peaceful, comfortable and dignified,” explains Vikki Harding, Chief Executive at ellenor. “The Coronavirus crisis does not change these goals; even though we know we will be asked to care for many more vulnerable people over the next few months.”
She continues: “Our responsibility is to re-think and adapt the way we care and support local people in our community – so we can still be there to provide the expert care they need. Our patients, old and young, are the very people who are most vulnerable to this virus – and our nursing and clinical teams are the front line of their care. This Fighting Fund will help to keep ellenor’s care services going, keep myself and my healthcare professional colleagues by the side of our patients.”
Victoria says that, as an Ambassador, she has witnessed first hand what a difference the incredible support ellenor gives its families makes.
“It is so worrying to learn about the financial implications that Covid-19 is having on ellenor’s ability to fundraise currently and the demand on its services,” says Victoria. “The charity provides such vital support to families at the most difficult of times, so I would urge anyone who feels they can, to support ellenor’s Emergency Fighting Fund Appeal.”
