CooperBurnett team walks from London to Gravesend for ellenor
Six team members from the Tunbridge Wells-based law firm, CooperBurnett, successfully completed the Walkathon event for hospice charity ellenor on Sunday 2 July. This saw them walk nearly 26 miles from Tower Bridge in London to the charity’s adult hospice in Gravesend, a challenge which took them eight hours.
Taking on the challenge were ellenor Ambassador, Victoria Sampson, Lisa Connolly, Katie Hilsdon, Charlotte Mackenzie, Gareth Warner and Andrew Hawkins and they were joined by a team of 75 ellenor supporters, who also included Lisa’s boyfriend, James Lazell and his mother Jane.
“I am very proud of the team,” said Victoria Sampson. “We all loved doing the walk – the weather was beautiful and the company was great. The team spirit was fantastic – I think we all hit a wall at 20 miles, but we thought about the families we were supporting and pushed on through. We had a great reception when we got to the hospice in Gravesend and are now proud owners of a medal to mark our achievement.”
Across South West Kent and beyond, ellenor provides vital hospice care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in the comfort of their own home.
“The work that ellenor does is inspirational,” says Victoria Sampson. “The charity provides invaluable care and support to babies, children and teenagers, their parents, siblings and family members through what are extremely difficult and unimaginable times. ellenor is relentless in its commitment to provide 24-hour palliative and end-of-life care to children who desperately need it and would like to help more families – but cannot do this without securing funding.”
