Just before lockdown, CooperBurnett won two awards in the second annual Legal Awards, hosted by SME News. We are delighted to report that the trophy has now arrived and is proudly on display. CooperBurnett was recognised as providing ‘Best Corporate & Commercial Law - South East’, while Partner Andrew Hawkins was named as the ‘Leading Legal Mind in Corporate Law (South East)’.

SME News is a quarterly digital publication aimed at those who own, run or assist in the running of small and medium-sized businesses within the UK.  SME News, by way of its digital magazine, website and social media outlets, provides a valuable tool to SMEs and their leaders for running their business day to day, seeking the best advice and for growing and succeeding in their endeavours.

Andrew Hawkins joined CooperBurnett four years ago, after beginning his legal career in the City. A partner in the Corporate and Commercial team, he is experienced in all aspects of corporate law, from share and asset sales, MBOs, private equity investment and shareholder agreements to general constitutional matters, EMI schemes, banking, restructuring and insolvency.

Andrew has substantial experience in the veterinary sector advising on transactions for sellers and buyers, advising on incorporations of veterinary partnerships and in the provision of general corporate law advice.

“We are absolutely thrilled that CooperBurnett has been recognised in two categories in the SME News Legal Awards for our expertise in corporate and commercial law in the South East,” says Victoria Sampson, Partner and Head of Corporate and Commercial Services at CooperBurnett. “Andrew has made a particular impact on our team since joining and we are proud that his skills and expertise have been recognised in this way.”
