Last year, CooperBurnett was named as the first official Dementia Friendly Business in Tunbridge Wells. Now, in a further step, we are happy to announce that Katie Hancock from the Private Client team is a fully-trained Dementia Friends Champion, which means she will be able to run Dementia Friends Information Sessions for groups in the local area.

Dementia Friends is a national initiative that aims to change the way we think, act and talk about dementia. The hour-long information sessions are free to attend and aimed at everyone in the local community, from school children to large businesses.

In her role as a Private Client solicitor, specialising in Wills, Powers of Attorney and Probate, Katie frequently acts for clients who have been affected, both directly and indirectly, by dementia.

As a Dementia Friends Champion, Katie will explain more about what dementia is and what living with the condition is like. At the end of the session, attendees are invited to pledge an action, which could be as small as simply telling others about Dementia Friends.

“The information session really increases your understanding of dementia and will get you thinking about what you can do to make a difference to people affected by dementia in your community,” Katie explains.

If you are interested in learning more or would like to arrange a session for your organisation, please get in touch on email: kch@cooperburnett.com or tel: 01892 515 022
